Experience in Canmore
Bow River Trail Walk
The Bow River Pathway is Canmore's front porch: a 5km paved riverside trail that connects the town centre to the Three Sisters viewpoint, running alongside the braided channels of the Bow River with an unbroken view of the surrounding peaks. Unlike trails that require effort to reach the view, this one delivers it immediately and continuously: the Three Sisters, Ha Ling Peak, and the EEOR (East End of Rundle) form a panorama that unfolds over the entire length of the walk. The trail is wide, smooth, and accessible to strollers, wheelchairs, cyclists, and runners. It's particularly beautiful in early morning (mist on the river, golden light on the peaks) and at dusk (alpenglow on the Three Sisters). In late spring, the Bow runs turquoise with glacial melt. In October, the cottonwoods along the banks turn vivid yellow. There's almost no time of year when this trail isn't worth doing.
